The Song Room is a unique provider of in-school arts-based programs for children in Australia. It provides programs in music, drama, dance, and the visual and media arts to disadvantaged children. The workshop programs are innovative in their cross-curricular use of music and the arts as the vehicle for student learning and engagement, and in providing access to specialist teaching artists in the school setting. Caroline Aebersold is the CEO of The Song Room and in the presentation below given at the 2014 World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) she explains why it is important to have and use the transformative power of creativity in education.
